THAILAND - GIZ NAMA SUPPORT PROJECT – REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING
02/2015 - 12/2018
In the spring of 2015, MACS’ experts were engaged by GIZ to conceptualize the financial component of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning NAMA support project in Thailand. The overall goal of the project is to improve energy efficiency in the RAC sector in Thailand to decrease GHG emissions.
Since May 2016, MACS also advises GIZ and EGAT, the Thai Electricity Authority, which was selected with MACS’s support as the local implementation agency. Consulting services are focused on suitable financial instruments and mechanisms to support the market introduction of domestic and commercial refrigeration equipment that uses natural refrigerants.
Project sponsor is the NAMA Facility, a joint effort from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Danish Ministry for Energy, Utilities and Climate (EFKM), the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the European Commission. The NAMA Facility supports developing countries and emerging economies that show leadership on tackling climate change and that want to implement ambitious climate protection measures with Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs).
