Latin America: Rollout Strategy for GHG mitigation at WWTPs in Latin America
The Water and Sanitation Utilities for Climate Change Mitigation (WaCCliM) project is a global project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMU).) as part of the International Climate Protection Initiative (ICPI and the International Climate Protection Initiative (IKI). The WaCCliM project implements measures in Peru and other partner countries (Jordan and Mexico).
The overall objective is to develop a strategiy for the scaling up of GHG mitigations at WWTP in Peru and other Latin American countries within the WaCCliM framework model
The main activities for the program will focus on the evaluation of the existing SEDACUSCO model to identify lessons learned and success factors in GHG mitigation in WWTPs to promote scaling up of activities in Peru and other Latin American countries, while also determining criteria for the specific selection of potential implementers (WWTP operators)
