In the framework of the KfW-EU supported Rural Water Supply and Wastewater Program Ajara in Georgia, MACS organized a study visit to 6 constructed wetland wastewater treatment plants in France. The objective was to introduce this technology to the Georgian delegation, as this technology is not yet applied in Georgia and could be applied there as a potential alternative to the current system. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, responsible for Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Permitting, was part of the delegation as well as representatives of the Project Executing Agency. To assess the technology and associated risks, it was critical to understand the technology and its operation.
